Abstract:Aiming at the double-roadway large-range deformation and breakage caused by unreasonable coal pillar dimension of fully-mechanized working face in thick coal seam.Engineering analogy theoretical analysis and numerical simulation were carried out to find the reasons for roadway instability and reasonable width of coal pillar. In the spot, coal pillar optimization experiment was carried out to verify the results. The results show that narrow coal pillar was not reasonable under the geological and production conditions of Chahasu Coal Mine. The inadequate width of coal pillar leaded to abutment pressure superposition on two sides of roadway, casing difficulty in roadway.Through comparison of the distributing rules of stress, displacement and plastic zone under different-sized coal pillar, finally,a conclusion was made that the coal pillar width was 35m.The optimization design had an obvious effect for roadway instability and improved economic benefits.
