Discussion on reasonable layout of fully mechanized top coal caving face in steeply dipping, unstable and loose coal seam

Abstract：The“horizontal-arc-inclined” open-off layout in fully mechanized top coal caving face of steeply dipping extra thick coal seam has achieved good effect, but the adaptability need to be further studied. Based on the occurrence conditions of No. 1125 steeply dipping, unstable and loose coal seam face in Changshanzi Coal Mine, comprehensive analyzes the characteristics of arc segment parameter, the adaptability of supports and scraper conveyors, as well as the phenomenon that supports have fell in the upper-arc; explains the reason for the unavailability of “horizontal-arc-inclined” open-off layout in fully mechanized top coal caving face of steeply dipping, unstable and loose coal seam; a straight line open-off layout is proposed and implemented in the site, which has eliminated supports falling accident in the arc segment. So the straight line open-off layout is reasonable in this kind of coal face.
