A comparative study on the mix proportion regulations of shotcrete in China, the US and Europe

Abstract：Based on China, American and European regulations of concrete mix proportion design method, and the mix proportion was designed for C30 shotcrete with slump of 110 mm. According to the qualitative and quantitative analysis for design steps and calculation methods in each regulation: the effect of materials amount on mix proportion in large to small sequence is aggregate proportion, water cement ratio, water consumption or cement content; determination of proportion of aggregate in China is mainly based on experience, the method of ACI is to determine the amount of coarse aggregate and then further determine the amount of fine aggregate, while the European method obtains scientific and precise values by complex computation based on FAURY method. In actual engineering, combination of two or three methods is recommended.
