Inquiry on Calculation of Deep Contact Fatigue Strength of Case Harden Gear
Abstract：Due to great disparity in hardness of core and case of the case harden gear,the excessive cycling contact stress on gear case trends toward pitting and spalling of the gear case,which is related to the thickness of hardening layer and the distribution of the deep contact stress.But the calculation of deep contact fatigue strength is always be neglected by designer.A calculation method is introduced on the basis of practical experience to prevent spalling failure thanks to insufficient deep contact fatigue strength.
