Abstract:In the refining process study of potassium chlorate used in the ignition charge Pb(SCN)2-KClO3 for electronic detonators, the wet milling process of potassium chlorate is adopted to replace the dry milling process. This process improves the safety of ball milling and ensures the uniformity and adjustability of particle size for potassium chlorate. The comprehensive performance and ignition performance of the ignition charge prepared with potassium chlorate of different particle sizes are compared. The tests show that when the ratio of anhydrous ethanol to potassium chlorate is 500 mL/kg,the ratio of ball-to-material is 2∶1,the ball milling time is from 2.5 hours to 3 hours, and the Fisher particle size is from 13 μm to 17 μm,it can well meet the performance requirements of the Pb(SCN)2-KClO3 initition charge.
