Abstract:Cheap and non-toxic water was used as the reducing agent to enable the reduction of 4-chloronitrobenzene,which provided a new and green method for the synthesis of 4,4,-dichloroazoxybenzene.Moreover,the reaction was carried out under light-free and catalyst-free conditions, avoiding the heating and the use of polluting reductants and catalysts in traditional processes.Effects of various conditions on the reaction were studied. The results show that 1,4-dioxane is the optimal solvent. When the optical power and wavelength are 75 W and 365 nm,respectively, the target product is obtained in the highest yield 92%.
