Abstract:In order to enhance the capacity of the internal dump in Hedaigou Open-pit Coal Mine and ensure slope stability, the strength parameters of the discharged materials are obtained through geotechnical physical and mechanical experiments.A comprehensive evaluation of the current slope safety factors and the feasibility of heightening and expanding the dump is conducted combining SLIDE slope stability analysis software with the limit equilibrium method. The results indicate that the cohesion values of the loess and mixed soil-rock discharged materials are 7.90 kPa and 14.33 kPa,respectively, with the corresponding internal friction angles of 27.03° and 29.48°.The overall safety factors of the existing internal dump is 2.09 and the local slope safety factors is 1.42,both exceeding the regulatory requirement of 1.2,confirming the feasibility of heightening and expansion.By analyzing the effects of critical slope angles, bench heights, and dumping elevations on stability, the article proposes that the bench heights for loess and soil-rock mixed discharged materials should remain at 30 m,with a recommended critical slope angle of 20°,and the maximum dumping elevation should not exceed+1 350 m.
