Abstract:In order to study the mechanism of slope instability under the coupling action of groundwater seepage and faults, the article establishes geotechnical engineering model, and adopt numerical calculation to study the change characteristics of groundwater seepage in the slope under different water level conditions from the aspects of groundwater level change, pore water pressure and hydraulic gradient. The article simulates and analyzes the slope under the coupling action of groundwater and fault by Flac3D,reveals the mechanism of slope instability. The results show that the groundwater seepage in the slope is affected by the aquiclude effect of the fault, and there is an step-like sudden change phenomenon at the F2 fault, and the sudden change phenomenon is not obvious at the F5 fault. With the decrease of the water head of the slope, the height of the sudden change of groundwater at the fault shows a decreasing trend, and the decreasing speed decreases. The hydraulic gradient increases first and decreases. The instability of the slope mainly occurs in the two fault areas. The instability mode of the slope is that the rock mass in the fault zone deforms under coupling action of groundwater and fault, which leads to the deformation of the backfill material above, thus causing the instability of the sliding failure along the layer.
