Stability research on increased capacity of open-pit mine external dump

Abstract：Through analyzing the existing problems of loess basement dump heighten and the possible failure mode, the article calculates the additional stress of the increased heighten on loess basement, which can change the loess structure, lead to quaternary palm red clay into water-resisting layer and reduce the shear strength of soil mass. By checking two kinds of design scheme stability of increased capacity, the article compares the deformation failure mode, scope and stability, determines the final mining plan.
