Research progress on social function assessment and non-pharmacological intervention in patients with dementia

Abstract:The social function of dementia patients declines significantly.Early selection of appropriate assessment tools and intervention measures is crucial for maintaining the social function of dementia patients.This article introduces 4 widely used assessment tools for evaluating social function in dementia patients:the Nurses'Observation Scale for Geriat-ric Patients,the Social Functioning in Dementia Scale,the Socioemotional Dysfunction Scale,and the Functional Activi-ties Questionnaire.Additionally,it elaborates on non-pharmacological intervention measures for the social functions of de-mentia patients,including mindfulness-based therapy,music therapy,animal-assisted therapy,social robot,and compre-hensive psychosocial programs.The review aims to provide a reference for the development and rational selection of social function assessment tools for dementia patients in China,and to offer a theoretical foundation for designing individualized non-pharmacological intervention strategies.
