A qualitative study on the smart elderly care needs of community-dwelling elderly in Guangzhou

Abstract：Objective To understand the real needs of smart elderly care for community-dwelling elderly in Guang-zhou.Methods Purposive sampling method was used to select 5 different communities in Guangzhou,Guangdong Prov-ince from March to April 2023.In each community,convenience sampling method was used to select 2-3 elderly people living at home for semi-structured in-depth interviews,and data analysis was conducted with Colaizzi 7-step analysis meth-od to extract key themes.Results The real needs of smart elderly care for community-dwelling elderly in Guangzhou were refined into four themes:the elderly had high demands and difficulties in daily life,safety and health were the most important,they tended to realize interpersonal interaction in real life,and smart technology met high-level needs that were currently difficult to realize.Conclusions The penetration rate of smart elderly care in communities is not enough,and communities can introduce and promote smart elderly care services as much as possible.The government should also for-mulate and improve relevant systems as soon as possible,increase financial investment,give more benefits to the elderly,and provide more comprehensive and personalized quality services.
