Abstract:Objective To examine the association between the triglyceride-glucose index(TyG index)and the oc-currence of mild cognitive impairment(MCI)in community-dwelling older adults. Methods This cross-sectional study employed probability-proportionate-to-size sampling to select 3 of 13 townships in Zengcheng District,Guangzhou City.Community-dwelling adults aged≥65 years were recruited through convenience sampling.MCI was defined by using the score of the Chinese version of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA)and the years of education. Two independent sample t-test and χ2 test were used to compare the differences in basic data, fasting plasma glucose, lipid profiles, and TyG index between cognitively normal and MCI groups among community elderly.Binary logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship between TyG index and the occurrence of MCI.Dose-response relationship between TyG in-dex and MCI was observed using the restricted cubic spline curve(RCS).Results A total of 588 community-dwelling older adults were investigated in this study, and 188 cases of MCI patients were detected, the prevalence of MCI was 31.97%.Binary logistic regression analysis results showed that the TyG index was positively correlated with the risk of MCI(OR=1.35,95%CI:1.02-1.80).RCS results showed that the TyG index was non-linearly associated with the risk of MCI in a dose-response relationship(P-trend=0.015,P-nonlinearity=0.046).When TyG≤8.6,the TyG index was not significantly associated with the risk of MCI,whereas MCI risk increased with higher TyG index when TyG>8.6.Conclusion TyG index is positively nonlinearly associated with the risk of MCI in older adults, and TyG>8.6 could in-crease the risk of MCI.
