Summary of the best evidence on dietary nutrition management for preventing cognitive impairment in the elderly

Abstract:Objective To summarize the best evidence for dietary nutrition management to prevent the occurrence and progression of cognitive impairment in the elderly.Methods According to the evidence-based"6S"model,relevant literature on dietary nutrition management measures to prevent the occurrence and development of cognitive impairment in the elderly was searched from top to bottom in both Chinese and English databases and guideline websites.The search peri-od covered from the establishment of the database to November 3,2024.The content of the evidence was translated,ex-tracted,and summarized by 2 researchers.Results A total of 18 articles were included,comprising 2 guidelines,4 ex-pert consensus,and 12 systematic reviews.A total of 25 pieces of evidence were summarized in 5 areas,covering dietary pattern adjustments,avoidance of unhealthy eating habits,intake of key nutrients,types and recommended amounts of beneficial foods,and health education and guidance.Conclusion This study summarizes the best evidence of dietary nutrition management in preventing the occurrence and development of cognitive impairment in the elderly based on evi-dence-based research methods,which can provide evidence-based basis for medical personnel in clinical practice.
