Current status of social alienation and its influencing factors in elderly patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and sarcopenia

Abstract：Objective To understand the current status of social alienation and its influencing factors in elderly pa-tients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)and sarcopenia.Methods A convenience sampling method was used to select 237 elderly patients with stable COPD and sarcopenia who were hospitalized in the Department of Respiratory Medicine of Huzhou First People's Hospital,Huzhou Central Hospital and Huzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from January to November 2024.Data were collected using the general information questionnaire,gener-al alienation scale,social impact scale,general self-efficacy scale and family care scale.Pearson correlation analysis was used to explore the correlation between social alienation and social influence,self-efficacy and family care.Multiple linear regression analysis was used to explore the influencing factors of social alienation in elderly patients with stable COPD and sarcopenia.Results The score of social alienation in elderly patients with stable COPD and sarcopenia was 41.92±6.29.The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that age,living condition,pulmonary function grading,course of COPD,total score of social impact,total score of self-efficacy and total score of family care were the influencing factors of social alienation in elderly patients with stable COPD and sarcopenia(all P<0.05).Conclusions The social alienation of elderly patients with stable COPD and sarcopenia is at a moderate to high level.Medical staff should focus on patients with advanced age,living alone and course of disease>5 years,and take measures to improve their willingness and belief to participate in social activities and independent sports,so as to help them return to family and society as soon as possible,and ultimately prevent or reduce social alienation.
