Abstract:Objective To assess the effect of health literacy on the prognosis of patients with heart failure(HF).Methods The literatures on the effects of health literacy on all-cause mortality, readmission rates and emergency depart-ment visits of HF patients in PubMed,The Cochrane Library,Embase,Web of Science,CINAHL,CNKI,China Biomed-ical Literature Database(CBM),Wanfang databases were searched by computer from inception to April 2023.Two investi-gators independently screened the studies, extracted information, and used Newcastle-Ottawa Scale(NOS)to evaluate the quality of the studies and RevMan 5.4 software was used for meta-analysis.Results A total of 13 articles were includ-ed,involving 14 812 subjects.Meta-analysis showed that HF patients with inadequate health literacy had a higher risk of all-cause mortality(RR=1.56,95%CI:1.23-1.97,P<0.01),and inadequate health literacy was also related to readmis-sion(RR=1.12,95%CI:1.03-1.21,P<0.05),the risk of emergency department visits increased(RR=1.19,95%CI:1.03-1.37,P<0.05).Conclusion Inadequate health literacy levels can increase the risk of poor prognosis in patients with HF,and caregivers should pay attention to the management of health literacy levels to improve the prognosis.
