Quality of life status and influencing factors in elderly patients with functional constipation from the per-spective of positive psychology

Abstract：Objective To investigate the status quo of quality of life in elderly patients with functional constipation,and to explore the factors affecting their quality of life.Method A total of 280 elderly patients with functional constipa-tion who were admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Yan'an University from July 2022 to June 2023 were selected as the re-search objects.General data questionnaire,Positive Phychological Questionnaire(PPQ)and Patient-Assessment of consti-pation Quality of Life(PAC-QOL)were used to conduct a cross-sectional investigation.Single factor analysis,correlation analysis and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the related factors affecting the quality of life of elderly patients with functional constipation.Results The score of PAC-QOL in elderly patients with functional constipation was 60.38±16.74.The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that gender,age,educational level,symptom duration,diet and psychological capital were independent factors affecting the quality of life of elderly patients with functional consti-pation(adjusted R2=0.844,P<0.001).Conclusions The quality of life of elderly patients with functional constipation is low,and in addition to gender,age,education,duration of symptoms,diet and other factors in the general data,psy-chological capital level is also an important predictor of quality of life.
