Current situation,problems and countermeasures of satisfaction of elderly residents in community nurs-ing homes in Wuhan

Abstract：Objective To accurately identify and determine the real needs of elderly people for nursing care servic-es,and to provide countermeasure references for the development of community nursing care services.Methods This study searched for and Chinesized the Consumer Satisfaction in Nursing Home Questionnaire,and conducted an on-site questionnaire survey on the satisfaction of 187 elderly residents in community nursing homes in Wuhan from August to Oc-tober 2019.Results A total of 172 valid questionnaires were collected,with an effective recovery rate of 91.98%.Among the 172 elderly residents,the total satisfaction score was 127.02±18.66,with a scoring rate of 76.0%.The mean scores of each dimension in descending order were caregiver(3.58±0.80),happiness(3.48±0.74),care and service(3.45±0.83),environment(3.41±0.88),meals(3.28±0.98),and activities(2.73±1.06),the difference between groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).34.9%(60 people)of the elderly residents were very willing to recommend community nursing homes,43.6%(75 people)of the elderly residents were willing to recommend,only 1.2%(2 people)were very reluctant to recommend.45.9%(79 people)of the elderly residents indicated that there was no improvement suggestion for community nursing homes.In terms of the items that the elderly residents wanted to improve,the number of people choosed from the highest to the lowest were food,activities,nursing and service,caregiver and environment,ac-counting for 26.7%,13.4%,6.4%,5.8%,and 1.7%,respectively.Conclusions The satisfaction of elderly resi-dents in community nursing homes is good,and the elderly hope that community nursing homes can carry out more activi-ties and provide personalized diets.It is suggested that human culture management mechanism and effective communica-tion mechanism can be adopted to meet the individual needs of the elderly residents in community nursing homes,and the whole society can participate in meeting the social needs of the elderly residents in community nursing homes,which will be conducive to improve the happiness of life of the elderly.
