Abstract:Objective To investigate the effect of hyponatremia on prognosis of elderly patients with COVID-19 in-fection.Methods The clinical data of 151 patients with COVID-19 infection admitted to Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong First Medical University from December 2022 to February 2023 were retrospectively analyzed.Pa-tients were divided into hyponatremia and normal natremia according to the blood sodium level at admission.Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was performed, and Log-rank test was used to compare the survival of the two groups. To compare the prognosis of elderly patients with COVID-19 infection with different clinical characteristics.Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the effect of hyponatremia on prognosis of elderly patients with COVID-19 infection. Results Among 151 elderly patients infected with COVID-19,56 cases were hyponatremia and 95 cases were normal natremia.Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the overall survival of patients with hyponatremia was lower than that of those with nor-mal natremia(P=0.006).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that hyponatremia(OR=4.902,95%CI:1.453-16.537,P=0.010)was a prognostic factor in elderly patients with COVID-19 infection. Conclusion The surviv-al of elderly patients with COVID-19 infection complicated with hyponatremia is affected.
