Abstract:Intussusception refers to the abnormal telescoping of one segment of intestine into an adjacent segment, leading to intestinal obstruction, impaired blood circulation, and localized intestinal tissue adhesion and necrosis of the mesentery.Early detection and surgical reduction of intussusception often result in a favorable prognosis. However,in severe or late-stage cases, resection of the necrotic intestine and intestinal anastomosis are required.Life-threatening complications such as anastomotic leakage or peritonitis may occur, potentially leading to death.Clinically, intussusception is relatively rare in cats, with juvenile cats being more commonly affected, and jejuno-ileal intussusception being the most frequent type. This article describes the diagnosis and treatment process of a feline intussusception case with a good postoperative prognosis, aiming to provide a reference for the diagnosis and management of similar cases in veterinary practice.
