Abstract:The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of adding a traditional Chinese medicine compound to the diet on the laying performance, egg quality, biochemical indicators and immune function of Roman laying hens.Seventy-two 300-day-old Roman white-shelled laying hens were selected and randomly divided into two groups(control group and traditional Chinese medicine group),with six replicates in each group and six chickens in each replicate. The control group was only fed the basic diet, while the traditional Chinese medicine group was given 1%of the traditional Chinese medicine compound in the basic diet. The pre-feeding period was 7 days and the experimental period was 60 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, there were no significant differences in the laying performance and egg quality of the laying hens in the traditional Chinese medicine group(P>0.05);The contents of serum cholesterol(TC),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)in the traditional Chinese medicine group of laying hens increased extremely(P<0.01),while the contents of liver triglyceride(TG)and LDL-C decreased extremely(P<0.01),and the contents of HDL-C and LDL-C in the ovaries of the traditional Chinese medicine group of laying hens decreased extremely(P<0.01);The contents of serum immunoglobulin A(IgA),interleukin 2(IL-2),interleukin-6(IL-6)in the serum of the traditional Chinese medicine group of laying hens increased extremely(P<0.01),while the content of interleukin-10(IL-10)decreased extremely(P<0.01),and the contents of interferon-γ(IFN-γ)and serum immunoglobulin G(IgG)did not show significant differences(P>0.05).The study showed that the traditional Chinese medicine compounds did not affect the laying performance and egg quality of laying hens, but could improve liver lipid metabolism and enhance the immune function of the laying hens.
