Diagnosis and prevention of viral diarrhea in piglets
Tang Guangxin
Abstract:Viral diarrhea in piglets is a prevalent and highly detrimental disease within the swine industry, severely impairing growth performance and often triggering mass mortality, thereby inflicting substantial economic losses on farmers. This article systematically reviews advances in diagnostic techniques targeting primary viral pathogens—including porcine epidemic diarrhea virus(PEDV),transmissible gastroenteritis virus(TGEV),porcine rotavirus(PoRV),and porcine astrovirus(PAstV)—while elaborating on therapeutic interventions and integrated control strategies. The synthesis aims to guide veterinary practitioners in reducing disease incidence and enhancing breeding profitability through science-based prevention protocols.
