Abstract:With the rapid development of the feed industry, protein resource scarcity has become a major concern.Nitrogen dioxide(NO2)released during livestock manure processing is a primary environmental pollutant, making nitrogen emission reduction a critical challenge for the farming sector. To address these dual challenges,low-protein balanced amino acid diets have garnered significant attention.Their application in swine production offers benefits such as conservation of protein feed resources, environmental protection, reduced diarrhea rates in piglets, improved reproductive performance in sows, and enhanced growth performance and meat quality in finishing pigs. The key mechanisms underlying these effects include improved nitrogen utilization, enhanced gut health, increased antioxidant capacity, and regulation of meat quality-related gene expression. This article reviews the application and mechanisms of action of low-protein diets with balanced amino acids in swine production. It also presents appropriate low-protein levels and amino acid balance patterns for pig diets at different growth stages, aiming to provide reference for the application of low-protein balanced amino acid diets in pig production.
