Clinical diagnosis and treatment of one case of canine acute pancreatitis
Zhu Hemu
Abstract:Canine pancreatitis is an inflammatory condition caused by stimuli such as trauma, infection,or dietary mismanagement, which triggers the pancreas to secrete digestive enzymes that autodigest the organ itself. This leads to symptoms including hematochezia and liver damage.Acute pancreatitis in dogs manifests as severe pain, vomiting, and hematochezia, typically diagnosed through serum biochemical tests combined with specific diagnostic methods. The disease carries a risk of mortality, and clinical management primarily follows the principle of symptomatic treatment to sustain physiological functions and alleviate symptoms such as abnormal defecation and dehydration. This article analyzes the etiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of acute pancreatitis in dogs, using one case of an aged dog with acute pancreatitis as an example, aiming to provide insights for clinical management of related conditions.
