Abstract:The experiment aims to understand the pathogens carried by the dead pigeons of a meat pigeon farm in Guangxi and provide a reference for the prevention and control of pigeon diseases in the local area.In the experiment, throat swabs were collected from the dead young pigeons submitted for examination. The pathological changes of internal organs were dissected and observed, and tissues such as liver, kidney, spleen and lung were collected.Laboratory diagnosis was conducted through methods such as pathological autopsy, microscopic observation, viral nucleic acid detection.Meanwhile, studies were conducted on the adaptability of the virus to chicken embryos and the drug sensitivity of pathogenic bacteria. The results showed that Trichomonas gallinae was observed in the dead pigeons under the microscope. The viral nucleic acids detected pigeon paramyxovirus-1(PPMV-1),circovirus(PiCV),and pigeon herpesvirus(PiHV).PiHV can be cultured through chicken embryos, but PiCV only shows certain adaptability. The pathogenic bacteria isolated and identified were Escherichia coli and Candida albicans.Escherichia coli is sensitive to amikacin and gentamicin, while Candida albicans is sensitive to nystatin and clotrimazole.Studies have shown that the dead pigeons were co-infected with PPMV-1,PiCV,PiHV,Escherichia coli,Candida albicans, and Trichomonas gallinae, suggesting that pigeon farms need to attach importance to the prevention and control of pigeon diseases and take corresponding biosecurity measures.
