Abstract:Porcine epidemic diarrhea(PED)is a disease caused by the porcine epidemic diarrhea virus(PEDV),primarily affecting piglets with extremely high morbidity and mortality rates.Due to frequent outbreaks caused by variant strains of PEDV,existing vaccines and drugs show limited efficacy in controlling new variant strains.Chinese herbal compound, characterized by their multi-component and multi-target properties, offer a novel approach for PED prevention and treatment. These compounds can effectively reduce mortality rates, shorten disease progression, and promote weight recovery through mechanisms such as antiviral activity, immune function regulation, and improvement of intestinal microecology. However, the mechanisms of action of Chinese herbal compounds are complex, and their research and application face challenges in dosage control and standardization.Future studies should focus on the application of high-throughput screening technologies, identification of active ingredients, and standardized production of Chinese herbal compound to ensure consistent therapeutic efficacy and safety.
