Abstract:This study aimed to investigate the biological characteristics of feline panleukopenia virus(FPV)in Jinzhou City, understand its genetic variations, and improve the immune efficacy of FPV vaccines.A total of 40 fecal samples from domestic cats suspected of FPV infection in Jinzhou City from 2022 to 2023 were collected.Through PCR detection, seven FPV-positive samples were selected for full-length sequencing of the VP2 protein. These sequences were compared and analyzed with domestic and international FPV VP2 protein sequences published in GenBank. The results showed that the detection rate of FPV in the 40 samples was 65.00%(26/40),with a detection rate of 33.33%(1/3)in vaccinated cats and 67.57%(25/37)in non-vaccinated cats.Sequence alignment of the VP2 gene revealed that all seven FPV strains isolated from Jinzhou belonged to the G1 group, with mutations at positions 87,91,and 133.These mutations might be responsible for vaccine failure. The study indicates that the current FPV detection rate in Jinzhou City is relatively high, necessitating an urgent evaluation of the protective efficacy of mainstream commercial vaccines currently available on the market.
