Abstract:The study aimed to confirm the pathogenicity and drug resistance of fox-derived Klebsiella pneumoniae.Liver samples from diseased foxes at a fur farm in Jinzhou,Liaoning Province, were collected for bacteriological and molecular biological identification, pathogenicity testing, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. The results showed that a strain of Klebsiella pneumoniae of fox origin(JMAV22.202201)was successfully isolated through bacteriological and molecular identification. On LB agar medium, the strain formed round,smooth,milky-white colonies. On MacConkey agar, pale pink, creamy colonies. And on sheep blood agar,round,smooth,gray-white colonies.Gram staining revealed pink-colored,short rod-shaped bacteria.Pathogenicity tests demonstrated 100%morbidity and mortality in infected mice, with multi-organ lesions including hemorrhaging in the lungs and spleen, swelling and congestive degeneration in the liver and kidneys, and congestive edema in the intestinal wall.Antimicrobial susceptibility testing indicated resistance to ampicillin, oxacillin, gentamicin, erythromycin, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole,while susceptibility was observed to ceftriaxone, cefuroxime, tetracycline, minocycline, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, and florfenicol. The study concludes that the isolated strain exhibits strong pathogenicity but remains susceptible to most tested antimicrobial agents.
