Abstract:The investigation was to understand the deficiency of mineral elements(Ca,Mg,P)in lactating cows postpartum.Ninety-eight Holstein cows from four intensive cattle farms(A,B,C,D)were randomly selected to measure serum level of Ca,Mg,P at the day of delivery, postpartum 10~20 d,30 d and 60 d.The results showed that in four cattle farms, lactating cows did not suffer from Mg and P deficiency, but had severe Ca deficiency with the incidence rates of 78.33%,87.50%,46.92%and 51.67%respectively of A,B,C,and D.The incidence of cattle farms A and B was higher than that in cattle farms C and D.Furthermore, the higher incidence of Ca deficiency was the day of delivery and postpartum 10~20 d with 72.50%and 81.39%respectively.The results indicates that Ca deficiency is a serious problem in dairy cows in the four cattle farms, especially during delivery and 10~20 d postpartum. The effective measures should be taken in time to reduce unnecessary economic losses.
