Abstract:By observing the acute toxicity and subchronic toxicity of the total flavonoids from Polygonum hydropiper Linn on mice, the safety evaluation was carried out to provide dose support for later development and application of the medicine. In the experiment,Kunming mice with half male and female were selected for acute toxicity test and subchronic toxicity test respectively, and different doses of total flavonoids from Polygonum hydropiper Linn groups and blank control group were set up.The results showed that the maximum tolerated dose of total flavonoids from Polygonum hydropiper Linn was greater than 5 g/(kg·BW).During the subchronic toxicity test of mice, there was no significant difference in body weight, weight gain rate and feed utilization rate of each drug test group compared with the blank control group(P>0.05).Although there were significant differences in individual biochemical indicators of mouse serum(P<0.05),the biochemical indicators were all within a reasonable range.Histopathological observation showed no obvious pathological damage. The results showed that the total flavonoids of Polygonum hydropiper Linn had no acute toxic effects on mice, and long-term continuous medication also had no subchronic toxic effects,so the safety was higher.
