Observation on the anti-coccidiosis effect of amprolium and to toltrazuril in rabbits

Abstract：The experiment was to study the efficacy of amprolium,toltrazuril and their combination in the treatment of rabbit eimeria infection.30 eimeria-free rabbits were randomly divided into five groups:group Ⅰ was not infected,group Ⅱ was infected and untreated,group Ⅲ was given amprolium(50 mg/kg BW)for 4 d,and group Ⅳ was given toltrazuril(5 mg/kg BW)for 2 d,groupⅤwas the combination of amprolium and toltrazuril which were respectively given in drinking water for 4 consecutive days(50 mg/kg BW)and in drinking water for two consecutive days(5 mg/kg BW).The results indicated that toltrazuril,amprolium and their combined use could significantly reduce OPG(P＜0.05),effectively control the mortality of coccidiosis,basically eliminate the clinical symptoms,and the indexes were close to or return to the normal level.Both drugs and their combination improved the adverse effects of rabbit coccidiosis,but the concurrent use of both drugs was more superior.
