Abstract:Proanthocyanidin A-1 (PAA-1) was isolated from Rhododendron spiciferum in ethylace-tate. To preliminary study the mechanism of immuno-enhancing activity of PAA-1 in cell level, ra-tio of two main lymphocyte T subsets (CD4+ cells and CD8+ cells) were detected by flow cytometer. The lymphocyte T came from mice in vitro and peripheral blood lymphocyte, the piglets were fed with PAA-1 .The results showed that PAA-1 can elevate the CD4+, CD8+ and CD4+CD8+ cell populations alone or with Con A and elevate the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ in vitro, and enhance CD4+, CD8+ cell popula-tions and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ in high dose groups. PAA-1 play a role in immune regulation by in-creasing the number of T helpers, T cytotoxic/suppressors and promote lymphocyte T maturation.
