Investigation of Prevalence of Pullorum disease in Liaoning Province

Abstract:From 2012 to 2013, a study was carried out on 42 breeding poultry farms(or households) and 45 commercial poultry farms(or households) in order to determine the prevalence of pullorum disease in Liaoning province. To achieve this objective, epidemiological investigations and sera samples were collected from the selected chicken for antibody detection. Moreover, some poultry farms(or households) were selected to monitor the status of pullorum disease. The results were showed as the following. The positive rate of pullorosis among grandparent was 0. The average posi-tive rate of pullorosis among parent poultry was 2.15%, the broiler breeder was 3.17% and egg breeder was 0.32%. The average positive rate of pullorosis among Liaoning domestic genetic re-source conservation poultry was 20%. The average positive rate of pullorosis of commercial poultry was 3.49%, layers was 4.8% and broilers was 2.2%. The results show that pullorosis hazards in Lia-oning province still exists, individual farms(or household)is also more serious.
