Comparison of two ELISA methods to detect antibody against Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome

Abstract：Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome(PRRS) is a swine infectious disease that causes abortions and respiratory disorders. This paper compared the two kinds of commonly used ELISA methods. The IDEXX-ELISA kit which used nuclear capsid protein as coated antigen was suitable to detect antibody against PRRS for early diagnosis. The LSI- ELISA kit with membrane pro-tein as coated antigen was suitable to monitor immune antibody against PRRS. Two methods were com-pletely different in the range of application and diagnostic significance. So in routine surveil-lance, we should choice different PRRS antibody detection kits according to the monitoring purpose.
