Effect of fermented soybean meal and plant essential oil on the performance of weaning piglets

Abstract:The experiment investigated the use of fermented soybean meal instead of normal soy-bean meal and the administration of plant essential oils on the growth performance of waning pig-lets, and provided a scientific basis for the use of fermented soybean meal and plant essential oil in the diets of piglets. The results showed that diets supplemented with fermented soybean meal and plant essential oil increased the bodyweight of the piglets and the average daily gain by 14.81% and 19.51% respectively. The average daily feed intake was increased by 6.84%, while the feed conversion ratio and unit weight cost were decreased by 10.71% and 7.67% respectively, mean-while, the rate of 50.67% diarrhea were effectively reduced.
