The Influence of Itraconazole Combined with Simvastatin on the Growth Rate of Nails in the Treatment of Onychomycosis

Abstract：Objective:To observe the effect of itraconazole combined with Simvastatin in the treatment of onychomycosis nails .Methods:180 patients were randomly divided into two groups:treatment group and control group .The patients in treatment group (90 cases) were treated by o-ral itraconazole and Simvastatin .The control group was treated by oral itraconazole .Fungi micro-scopic examination and cultivation were used before and after the treatment .The length of finger-nails was measured with vernier calipers , and then the daily growth rate was calculated .Results:Immediately after treatment ,2 months and 4 months after treatment , both the clinical cure rate and mycological cure rate of the treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05), and the nail growth rate of the treatment group was significantly faster than that of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Itraconazole combined with simvastatin can accelerate the growth speed of nails of patients with onychomycosis , which proves that simvastatin has the syner-gized action .
