The Impact of Computer Radiation on Facial Skin

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the effects of computer radiation on the video display ter-minal ( VDT) staff’ facial skin, and to assess the computer radiation hazards to the skin barrier objectively and comprehensively .Methods:VDT staff in Foshan city was randomly selected .Re-ferred to daily working time (<3 h/d, 3~5 h/d, >5 h/d) as the evaluation index , 105 cases were randomly selected .With work experience (<1 year, 1~2 years, >2 years) as the evalua-tion index , 86 cases were randomly selected .The respondents were questioned by specialized phy-sicians whether dry , itching, scaling, tightness, burning sensation or other symptoms on face after work, and the data was analysized by statistical methods of bi-ordered attribute χ2 test in different packet data .Results:In the three groups of daily working time <3 h/d, 3~5 h/d, and >5 h/d, 12, 21,and 22 cases respectively had subjective symptom of facial skin .In the three groups of work experience <1 year, 1~2 years, and >2 years, 30, 27, and 23 cases respectively reported subjective symptom of facial skin .Subjective symptom of facial skin became worse with the in-creasing of daily working time and work experience .There was a linear contact between the two variants (χ2 =17.10,P<0.01; χ2 =4.13,P=0.017).Conclusion:Computer radiation could damage facial skin .VDT staff should take appropriate measures to prevent its hazard .
