Abstract:Venous thromboembolism(VTE)includes deep vein thrombosis(DVT)and pulmonary embolism(PE),with PE predominantly arising from DVT-related thrombus embolization into the pulmonary circulation.PE is characterized by rapid onset and high mortality, posing significant clinical challenges.Biliary tract carcinoma(BTC)represents highly aggressive malignancies within the gastrointestinal system. The global incidence of BTC has been steadily increasing, yet patient prognosis remains poor, primarily due to the challenges associated with early detection.VTE,as a notable complication of BTC,markedly reduces patient survival. This article provides a comprehensive review of the current literature on the intersection of BTC-associated VTE,focusing on epidemiology, pathological mechanisms, risk factors, prevention and treatment, with the aim of offering valuable insights for clinical practice.
