A Case Report of Two-Point Anastomosis Tumor Radical Surgery for Synchronous Colorectal Cancer in a Teenager: Splenic Flexure Colon Cancer Combined with Rectal Cancer
Abstract:Synchronous colorectal cancer (SCRC) refers to the diagnosis of two or more independently isolated colorectal cancer lesions in the same patient within six months [1]. With the increasing incidence of colorectal cancer, the younger age of onset, and the continuous advancement of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, the detection rate of SCRC is on the rise and has attracted increasing clinical attention. Currently, surgical treatment remains the main therapeutic approach, often combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy as comprehensive treatment strategies. However, literature on the selection of surgical approaches for SCRC is still relatively limited. Due to the complex clinical characteristics and high individual variability of SCRC, preoperative comprehensive and accurate assessment is required [2], and the development of surgical plans still presents certain difficulties and controversies. The surgical strategy for SCRC significantly affects the prognosis of patients, and individualized treatment plans should be formulated by considering factors such as patient age, general condition, number and location of tumors, differentiation degree, remaining intestinal length, resection range, and anastomotic site [3]. Herein, we report a 16-year-old male patient treated at our hospital who, after recovery from acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), was diagnosed with splenic flexure colon cancer combined with rectal cancer. He underwent laparoscopic radical surgery for left-sided colon cancer and rectal cancer, preserving part of the sigmoid colon, descending colon, and inferior mesenteric vein, and performed a transverse colon-sigmoid colon end-to-side anastomosis and a rectum-sigmoid colon end-to-end anastomosis. The diagnostic and therapeutic process is reported below.
