Abstract:Cell competition is a pivotal quality control mechanism that plays essential roles in embryonic development, tissue homeostasis maintenance, and the progression of cancer.Recent investigations have shed light on the role of stress-induced cell competition, specifically mechanical cell competition,as a novel form of cellular competition that significantly impacts the promotion or suppression of tumor growth.Consequently,it assumes a critical function in both the genesis and advancement of cancer. This comprehensive review article aims to delve into the regulatory mechanisms governing stress-induced cell competition and elucidate its significance in the process of cellular elimination. Moreover,we will explore its potential as a promising target for therapeutic interventions in the context of cancer treatment.
