Chinese Expert Consensus on Immune Checkpoint Inhibitor Therapy for Biliary Tract Cancer (2025 Edition)
Abstract:Biliary tract cancer (BTC) accounts for only 3% of gastrointestinal tumors, but it is characterized by strong invasiveness, high mortality, and poor prognosis [1]. Due to its insidious onset, most patients are diagnosed at an advanced stage, missing the optimal opportunity for surgical cure, and traditional radiotherapy and chemotherapy have limited effects on improving patient survival. In recent years, with the emergence of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), particularly those targeting programmed death 1 (PD-1) and programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1), new hope has been brought to the treatment of BTC [2-3].
