Associations of serum LCN2,LTBP2 and DCLK1 expression profiles with clinicopathological features and prognosis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma patients

Abstract：Objective To investigate the associations of serum lipocalin-2(LCN2),latent transforming growth factor beta binding protein 2(LTBP2),and doublecortin-like kinase 1(DCLK1)expression levels with clinicopathological characteristics and prognosis in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC)patients.Methods A total of 117 ESCC patients admitted to our hospital from August 2019 to August 2021 were enrolled as observation group.Another 117 age-and sex-matched healthy individuals undergoing routine health examinations during the same period served as controls.Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect serum LCN2,LTBP2 and DCLK1.Kaplan-Meier survival curve was used to analyze the relationship between serum LCN2,LTBP2,DCLK1 expression and survival time.Prognostic factors were evaluated using Cox proportional hazards regression models.The predictive performance of serum LCN2,LTBP2 and DCLK1 for ESCC outcomes was assessed by receiver operating characteristic curve analysis.Results Compared with control group,observation group had higher serum LCN2,LTBP2 and DCLK1(P<0.05).The serum LCN2,LTBP2 and DCLK1 in observation group were correlated with the TNM stage and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05).Kaplan-Meier survival curve revealed that the 3-year survival rates of patients with high expression of LCN2,LTBP2 and DCLK1 were lower than those of patients with low expression of LCN2,LTBP2 and DCLK1(χ2=7.373,6.501,8.624,P<0.05).The multivariate analysis revealed that serum LCN2,LTBP2,DCLK1 expression were risk factors for prognostic mortality in patients with ESCC(P<0.05).The area under the curve of serum LCN2,LTBP2,DCLK1,and their combined prediction for prognosis of ESCC were 0.830,0.865,0.841,and 0.951,respectively.The area under the curve predicted by the combined prediction was higher than that single predictions(P<0.05).Conclusion The expression levels of serum LCN2,LTBP2 and DCLK1 are elevated in patients with ESCC,and are closely related to their clinical pathological features and prognosis.
