One Case of Colorectal Cancer with Intraoperative Intraperitoneal Infusion of Recombinant Modified Human Tumor Necrosis Factor
Abstract:The incidence and mortality rates of colorectal cancer in China have been on the rise. According to the 2020 China Cancer Statistics Annual Report, colorectal cancer ranks second among all malignant tumors in terms of incidence and fifth in terms of mortality [1]. The common metastatic site of advanced colorectal cancer is peritoneal metastasis. The currently accepted mechanism of peritoneal metastasis is the 'seed and soil' theory [2], in which colorectal cancer spreads to the peritoneum mainly through free tumor cells in the abdominal cavity. Therefore, early elimination of free colorectal cancer cells in the peritoneal cavity can prevent peritoneal metastasis in patients with colorectal cancer and prolong their survival. Yijishan Hospital, Wannan Medical College treated a male patient with colorectal cancer accompanied by liver metastasis. Preoperative examinations revealed a mass in the hepatic region of the colon and distant metastasis. The patient was treated with conventional surgery, adjuvant chemotherapy, and intraoperative intraperitoneal infusion of tumor necrosis factor, which effectively prolonged the patient's survival. The treatment process and follow-up results are reported below.
