Abstract:E2F transcription factors are essential regulators of the cell cycle, regulating the phases of the cell cycle by controlling the transcription of numerous target genes involved in DNA replication and cell cycle progression. The E2F family can be broadly divided into transcriptional activators(E2F1,E2F2,and E2F3a)and transcriptional repressors(E2F3b,E2F4,E2F5,E2F6,E2F7,and E2F8).They play an influential role not only in regulating the normal cell cycle but also have an impact on cervical cancer. As effector molecules,E2Fs are involved in the development and progression of cervical cancer and show promising potential as prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for cervical cancer. This review summarizes the research progress on the role and mechanism of various E2F family members in cervical cancer in recent years,in order to provide current ideas for the diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer.
