A Case of Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma Combined in the Lung and Mediastinum
Abstract:Epithelioid hemangioendothelioma (EHE) is a rare vascular tumor first reported by Weiss et al. [1] in a study of 41 rare cases in 1982. It originates from vascular endothelial cells or pre-endothelial cells, with vascular endothelium as the pathological basis. It has a low to intermediate malignancy, lying between hemangioma and angiosarcoma, and has the potential for local and distant metastasis [2-3]. EHE is usually multifocal, commonly found in soft tissues, and can also occur in some solid organs such as the liver and brain, which is related to medium and large veins. Primary occurrence in the lung or mediastinum is rare [4]. Our department treated one patient with EHE combined in the lung and mediastinum. The diagnostic and therapeutic process is reported as follows. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Jining People's Hospital [2021 Lun Shen Yan No. (067)].
