Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression and clinical significance of ribosomal protein S16(RPS16)in human gastric cancer primary and lymph node metastasis tissues. Methods A total of 105 surgical samples from Shanghai Changhai Hospital were collected, tissue chips were constructed, and immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of RPS16 protein in gastric cancer adjacent tissues, primary lesions and lymph node metastases, and the relationship between RPS16 expression and clinical features was analyzed. Results The overexpression rate of RPS16 protein was 59.05%(62/105)in 105 primary gastric cancer samples. The expression of RPS16 in primary lesions was statistically correlated with clinical TNM stage and age(P<0.05).The median overall survival of patients with RPS16 overexpression was 18.0 months, which was significantly lower than 40.3 months of patients with low expression, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).The expression intensity of RPS16 in lymph node metastases was significantly higher than that in primary lesions(P<0.05).Conclusion With the progression of gastric cancer, the expression intensity of RPS16 increases gradually, and the prognosis of patients with high expression is poor, suggesting that RPS16 plays an important role in the occurrence and development of gastric cancer, and can be used as a potential prognostic indicator for patients with gastric cancer.
