Abstract:RNA methylation refers to the modification of various RNA molecules through the methylation process at distinct positions. This modification is primarily controlled by the enzymatic activity of RNA methyltransferases, the recognition of methylated sites by methylation-binding proteins, and the removal of methyl groups by demethylases. In colorectal cancer,RNA methylation-related molecules are frequently overexpressed, promoting tumor cell proliferation, progression, metastasis, and contributing to chemotherapy resistance.Colorectal cancer ranks among the most prevalent gastrointestinal malignancies worldwide, with distant metastasis and resistance to chemotherapy as major impediments to treatment success.RNA methylation assumes a crucial role in the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of colorectal cancer. This review discusses the progression in the study of RNA methylation types in colorectal cancer and explores prospect for the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of the disease.
