Abstract:Objective To investigate the level and clinical significance of serine protease 8(PRSS8)in gastric cancer tissues. Methods Eighty-five gastric cancer patients diagnosed and treated in our hospital from January 2017 to December 2021 were included in the study.Real-time quantitative PCR(qPCR)was used to detect PRSS8 levels in cancer tissues and adjacent tissues.Based on the clinical pathological characteristics and follow-up data of patients, the clinical significance of PRSS8 levels in gastric cancer was analyzed.Cox proportional hazards regression model was used to analyze the relationship between tissue PRSS8 level and prognosis of gastric cancer. Results The PRSS8 level in gastric cancer tissue was 0.615±0.027,lower than the 1.400±0.081 in adjacent tissues(t=9.242,P<0.001).Layered analysis revealed that tissue PRSS8 levels were associated with TNM staging, depth of infiltration, degree of differentiation, lymph node metastasis and prognosis(P<0.05).Among them, the median overall survival of the high-level individuals was not reached, better than 47.0 months of the low-level individuals(P<0.05).Further multivariate analysis showed that a decrease in PRSS8 level was an independent prognostic risk factor for gastric cancer patients(HR=2.905,95%CI:1.520-5.554,P=0.018).Conclusion The decreased level of PRSS8 in gastric cancer tissues is an independent risk factor affecting patients' prognosis and may be involved in the occurrence and development of gastric cancer. It has the potential to serve as a diagnostic and prognostic marker for gastric cancer.
