Abstract:Malignant ascites(MA)is the pathological accumulation of malignant peritoneal fluid in the peritoneal cavity caused by tumor invasion or metastasis.MA is one of the many complications of patients with advanced tumor. The prognosis of those patients is poor while there are still no standard drugs or treatment regimens. The formation mechanism of MA varies with the pathology and loca?tion of primary tumor.Currently, MA can be treated by systemic chemotherapy, intraperitoneal chemotherapy, hyperthermic intraperito?neal chemotherapy, intraperitoneal immunotherapy and other treatment methods. In recent years, intraperitoneal anti?angiogenesis therapy with recombinant human endostatin injection (endostar) has been reported wildly and shown very promising efficacy in treating MA. Based on the experience of clinical observation and the related publications of endostar, the advancement of endostar in the treat?ment of MA was systemically reviewedin this article.
