Abstract:Objective To investigate the expression of Livin protein in stageⅠ-Ⅲcolorectal cancer and its relationship with clinicopathological features and prognosis. Methods From January 2007 to December 2009,100 cases of colorectal cancer,30 cases of adjacent tissues and 15 cases of normal colorectal mucosa in People’s Hospital of Haikou were selected. The expression of Livin pro-tein was examined by MaxVisionTM2. The relationship between Livin expression and clinicopathological features of colorectal cancer was analyzed. Cox hazard-regression model was used to analyze the factors influencing overall survival(OS). Results The positive expres-sion rates of Livin in colorectal cancer tissues, adjacent tissues and normal colorectal mucosa tissues were 64.0%(64/100),16.7%(5/30)and 0,respectively (P<0.05). Livin expression was correlated with TNM stage, invasion depth, lymph node metastasis,dif-ferentiation degree and preoperative CEA (P<0.05),but not with sex,age and tumor size(P>0.05). Cox multivariate regression a-nalysis showed that Livin expression and TNM stage were independent prognostic factors for OS in stage Ⅰ-Ⅲ colorectal cancer(P<0.05). Conclusion Livin may be associated with the occurrence, development and prognosis of colorectal cancer, and may provide important guidance for clinical diagnosis and evaluation of colorectal cancer.
