Abstract:Objective To investigate the level of serum Annexin A autoantibodies in patients with gastric cancer and its clinical significance. Methods Serum samples of 182 patients with gastric cancer diagnosed in our hospital were collected. The levels of Annexin A autoantibodies were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. Samples of 161 healthy subjects were selected as controls. The relationship between the levels of serum Annexin A autoantibodies and the clinicopathological parameters of gastric cancer was analyzed. The receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) was used to evaluate the efficacy of serum Annexin A autoantibody levels in the early diagnosis of gastric cancer. Results The serum level of autoantibodies to Annexin A was 1.621±0.543 in patients with gastric cancer, higher than 0.365±0.223 of the healthy subjects, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Serum levels of Annexin A autoantibodies were independent of age, sex, tumor location and lymph node metastasis (P>0.05), but were related to tumor size, clinical stage and differentiation (P<0.05). The serum level of Annexin A autoantibody was 1.840±0.554 in patients with tumor size more than 5 cm, higher than 1.437±0.462 in patients with tumor size less than 5 cm. The serum level of Annexin A autoantibody was 1.897±0.566 in patients with clinical stage of Ⅲ-Ⅳ, higher than 1.428±0.434 in patients with clinical stage of I-Ⅱ. The level of Annexin A antibody was 1.951±0.446 in patients with low and no differentiation, higher than 1.276±0.404 in patients with high and medium differentiation. The area under the curve of serum Annexin A autoantibody level in the diagnosis of gastric cancer was 0.919 (95%CI: 0.852-0.961) with the optimal cut-off value of 1.068. The cut-off value of the sensitivity and specificity was 82.7% and 75.2%. Conclusion In gastric cancer patients, serum Annexin A autoantibody levels are higher than the normal level, which is associated with tumor size, clinical stage and degree of differentiation. It may play a role in the development of gastric cancer, has a good value in the early diagnosis of gastric cancer, and can be used for auxiliary diagnosis and evaluation of gastric cancer.
